About VHS
V eteran Housing Solutions LLC (VHS) is a veteran-focused housing organization dedicated to helping veterans access safe, stable, and affordable independent living housing. Our mission is to reduce veteran homelessness and housing instability by providing quality housing opportunities that promote dignity, independence, and long-term success.
We work with veterans, VA social workers, HUD-VASH coordinators, SSVF providers, Volunteers of America, community organizations, and landlords to connect eligible veterans with safe housing options.
What makes VHS unique is that we are building a housing solution created with veterans in mind. As a veteran-led organization, we understand the challenges many veterans face when transitioning from military service, overcoming housing instability, or rebuilding their lives.
Every partnership, every placement, and every door we open is guided by a single conviction — that those who served deserve a place to call home.
"We exist to build bridges — between service and stability, veterans and community."
Independent living housing and the partnerships that make it sustainable — built for veterans, with veterans.

Born from service and forged in purpose, Veteran Housing Solutions was founded by Tyasia Shackleford and Ayeshah Baker — two veterans who refused to watch their brothers and sisters in arms come home to closed doors. VHS is a movement: a veteran-led promise of safe, stable, dignified independent living for those ready to write their next chapter.
We believe every veteran deserves dignity, respect, and a place to call their own. Our mission is to dismantle veteran homelessness — one key, one front porch, one partnership at a time — by uniting landlords, service organizations, referral agencies, and community champions behind a single banner.
Through VHS, we don't just open doors — we cultivate environments where independence flourishes, accountability is honored, and community grows roots. Every home we place a veteran in is a quiet revolution: proof that purpose, peace, and stability are still possible after the uniform.
Our vision stretches from North Carolina to every corner of the nation — a trusted force building lasting impact through housing, partnership, and the unbreakable bond of those who have served.
